I am frequently contacted by young entrepreneurs starting out on the Internet who ask the same question: “Why can’t I make any money on the Internet?” Answering that question isn’t easy. It involves an in depth look at what the individual is doing to make money. However, there are common suggestions that I make time after time that ultimately end up starting my colleagues and clients down the path of wealth.
1. Create partnerships - Partnerships help create a reciprocal motivation source. If you have a business partnership setup and you begin to lose motivation, talking to your partner can help.
Even if you don’t have anything to sell, a partner can help. You can partner with someone who HAS something to sell. In that case, you can negotiate a certain amount of the profit to help him. You’ll be motivated by the fact that you get paid more by selling more and he’ll be happy because he won’t have to work so hard at marketing his own product.
It’s a pretty good deal, especially since you didn’t start with something to sell.
2. Become an Affiliate Marketer - Many products offer affiliate programs. You do the marketing for them and you make a commission on what you sell. This is similar to the partnership idea above, except most likely, there are many more than two people involved.

A lot of internet marketers run some unprofitable websites or businesses with no short or long
term strategies. Some people do not have any goals, while some seem to jump from one ‘business opportunity’ to another. Some internet marketers treat their internet marketing business like a hobby, and yet expect to earn some good checks from it.
To succeed in internet marketing, you need to apply some strategic internet marketing techniques.
Depending on your internet marketing interests; it is a good idea to engage in a business that has a long term potential, which means that you will need to have long term goals with the business.
Strategic internet marketing is not randomly buying some cheap recycled 300,000 email leads or guaranteed hits. Strategic internet marketing is also not about pointlessly placing banner ads all over the internet. Strictly relying on free classified ads or surfing for traffic will also not bring you any guaranteed success for your internet marketing business. Yes, these marketing tactics mentioned above may work in some instances for some business types; but they can’t be considered as strategic internet marketing campaigns just by themselves.

In any business operation, planning is an important and essential procedure. It goes the same when running an online business. A proper business plan establishes your business goals and eliminates unnecessary activity which is not related to your business goals. It gives you a clear view of what your business wants to achieve within a given timeframe.
Nonetheless, when a business goes according to plan there are many advantages such as:
1. You are focus only on the activities that are most likely to achieve your goals.
2. You know how to allocate your resources (staffing, funding etc)
3. You are able make correction and adjustments, and get back on track if necessary.
When writing an online business plan, the approach can be slightly different from a traditional business planning though the objective can be the same. An online business runs 24 hrs a day 7 days a week and a traditional business probably opens from 8 to 5 and closes on every Sunday, thus planning will not be the same for the 2 types of business.
